Team : ATELIER IRIS CHERVET mandatory + URBAN WATER hydrology

This plan’s strategy combines rebalancing population centres between the coast and the hinterland and rebalancing natural and human ecosystems to reduce the territory’s vulnerability to climate change.
The removal of structures that impede the flow of water will allow the river’s natural variations to take their rightful place: the territory will once again follow the rhythms of the water.#cut

This guide suggests a number of areas for action:

  • Unblock the natural flow of water and “re-hydrating” the territory to activate the metabolisms of living organisms;
  • Protect the floodplain and enhance the environments it contains;
  • Make the marshes productive and pollution-free, i.e., by allowing water to work for the town and the local economy (phyto-remediation, bio-sourced materials, etc.);
  • Transform departmental roads into “parkways” and make them hydraulically transparent;
  • Protect the riverbed by recreating upstream-downstream continuity;
  • Restore the organic character of rural landscapes within a vast natural and agricultural park;
  • Reconnect urban uses to natural metabolisms by reconstituting the city’s natural water cycle.
