WINNER INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION EUROPAN 17 “LIVING CITIES”

Mission : Territorial strategy for resilient development of the Parc des Boucles de l’Isère and the North-East Polarity

Area : Strategic site 1650 Ha

Calendar : 2023

Team : ATELIER IRIS CHERVET

Climate change is increasing torrential flooding and soil erosion in the Alps, amplifying sedimentation on the Grésivaudan plain. This project takes advantage of these floods to recover silt from the Isère region and produce local topsoil, which is then used to desilt and revegetate the town centre. In doing so, it establishes a new territorial metabolism by transferring organic matter.
Four landscape features support this metabolism: sedimentary marsh, a wet landscape that allows silt to settle; forested avenues, historic routes that refresh and depollute the dense city; wooded countryside crossings, a network of cultivated pathways linking the plains and foothills; and archaeological loops, a narrative trail following in the footsteps of the ancient bends of the Isère, which dramatize the risk. #cut
